Prebiotics

Our body is populated by a multitude of living microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, yeasts, etc.) which, together, form what is called the microbiota . The intestinal microbiota, when in balance, allows the proper functioning of our digestive system.

On the surface of the skin, we also have a skin microbiota , which is the outermost layer after the stratum corneum. This microbiota plays a protective role by forming a physical barrier that allows defense against pathogens, allergens and other substances that can irritate the skin. Prebiotics are a source of nutrients for the skin microbiota.

myBlend has selected the Marine Prebiome (INCI name: maris aqua/sea water/eau de mer, laminaria digitata extract, chlorella vulgaris extract, saccharide isomerate), a natural prebiotic-like developed from a complex of algae and plankton extracts . The term probiotic-like is used because it is not a food substance, but an active ingredient specifically developed for the skin. This blend of highly energetic active ingredients from the seas and oceans provides the skin microbiota with most of the nourishing elements it needs in the form of water, minerals, peptides and sugars.

For Nutri Glow , myBlend has selected Inulin (INCI name: inulin), also a prebiotic-like, which belongs to the class of fructans (or fructo-oligosaccharides) and fermented carbohydrates and is considered a prebiotic dietary fiber. It is not digested by the intestine, but is absorbed by the intestinal flora. It serves as food for the “good” bacteria and promotes their development. It is found in several vegetables and here it is extracted from chicory roots.
